Hazen Vision 2020 Report : A report and recommendations regarding the development of a school-community vision for the year 2020 is now online...
HAZEN HIGHLIGHTS Attention Artists! The Student Council is looking for talented students interested in designing a logo for the Hazen Union Winter Carnival 2010 T-shirt. The T-shirts will be sold at Winter Carnival on February 19. Show your school spirit and submit your design before the deadline, Monday, February 8. For additional information, see Mr. Modry, Mr. Pennock or a Student Council member. Sunshine Sale! The Music Department's annual Citrus Fruit Sale fundraiser begins today! Order your fresh fruit from Florida at very reasonable prices before February 16 from any band member or call the Music Department at 472-6511, EXT. 134. Fruit will be delivered between March 8 - 13. Hazen Help for Haiti: A Coffee House will be held on Thursday, February 18th from 6 to 8 PM as a fundraiser for the Haitian relief efforts. The suggested donation is $2 for students, $5 for adults. If you would like to perform, please talk to Mrs. Light or to Mavis McNeil to be part of the program.

THE WILDCATS DEN For sports schedules and information, please check out our web page. Hazen Hoops! The High School Girls Basketball teams travel to Fairfax TODAY. The JV game starts at 6 PM; the Varsity game starts at 7:30 PM. The bus departs at 4:15 PM. The JV 2 Boys Basketball team travels to Lyndon for a game today at 5:30 PM. The bus departs at 4 PM.
The Middle School Basketball teams take on Stowe today. The Boys teams play at home. The 7th grade game starts at 5 PM, the 8th grade game starts at 6:15 PM. The Middle School girls teams are on the road to Stowe today. The 7th grade game starts at 5 PM; the 8th grade game starts at 6:15 PM. The bus leaves at 4 PM.
Spring Sports Sign Up: All high school students planning to play a spring sport (Baseball, Softball, Track and Field, or Golf) must sign the apppropriate sheet on Mr. Sperry's door before the end of school on Wednesday, February 10. Indoor Soccer: Anyone interested in playing Indoor Soccer at the "Green Mountain Arena" (formerly "The Crew") see John Sperry for registration information.

GUIDANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS Navy Recruiter to Visit: Students interested in careers in the U.S. Navy can meet with Chief Leaveau on Monday, February 8, during lunch in the cafeteria.
Seniors: Applications for local scholarships are available on the Guidance counter. If you want to be considered for any of the scholarships that Hazen Union oversees, you must complete this application and return it to Guidance. These applications are due by April 16! Students! Visit the Guidance web page and check out the "Guidance News" Bulletin Board frequently for information on colleges and careers.
REACH! After School Programs Site Coordinator: Darlene Miller 472-6511 Ext: 163 Reading Buddies: Meet in the Hazen Library Atrium on Thursdays from 3 - 4:30 PM. Students participating in this group will create a reading program for Hardwick Elementary students. See Ms. Schoen if you are interested in joining.
Crafters' Circle: Meets on Mondays from 3 - 4:30 PM beginning January 25th. The crafters will be making Psanky Eggs in Mrs. Balentine's room. Get a group of friends together for an afternoon of fun and creativity. Students will select future craft projects.
Junior Iron Chef: Meetings on Thursday at 3 PM in the Family Consumer Science room. See Mrs. Miller if you would like to participate. Cirque Du Freak Reading Club! Postponed until March. Will meet with Ms. Bauer on Tuesdays from 3 - 4 PM. WARNING! This book club is not for the faint of heart! We will read and discuss the first book in the Cirque du Freak series...a story that follows a young man as he faces the dangerous, and often freaky, consequences of his decisions. We will wrap up the book club by screening the movie and comparing it to the book...if we're brave enough!
Homework Cafe: Homework Cafe is open Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 5 PM in the Hazen Library. Snacks are provided until 2:50 PM for all Cafe students. Activity Bus: The Activity Bus runs on Monday through Thursday for students who stay after school for adult supervised activities and clubs. Students wishing to take the Activity Bus must sign up in the library by 3:`15 PM. If no one signs up before 3:15 PM, the bus will be cancelled. Bus #1 will leave at 4:30 PM and drop off students at the Woodbury Store. Bus #2 will leave at 4:50 PM and will drop off students in Greensboro at Willey's Store, Greensboro Bend Post Office, and East Hardwick at the D& L Store.
